Jacqueline Brown has been appointed as the new chair of Ardenglen Housing Association.

The tenant of 27 years takes over the reins at a challenging time for the social housing sector.

“With costs rising across the board, particularly in construction, I’m taking over at a testing time for the Association. However, with the quality of staff that we have here, I’m confident that the team will be able to deliver great things for our tenants in the years to come,” said Jacqueline.

Jacqueline has been involved with the association’s board for around six years and is qualified to SVQ Governance of Scottish Housing Associations, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

She works for the Institution of Mechanical Engineers as its membership development co-ordinator and will serve as chair for the next five years.

Ardenglen chief executive, David Byfield, said: “Jacqueline brings a wealth of housing governance experience to the roll as well as living in the area for decades, she knows the challenges that our communities face and how the association can make a real difference to the quality of people’s lives here, I’m really looking forward to working with her to deliver improved services for our tenants.”

Ardenglen manages around 1000 homes in the Castlemilk area of south Glasgow.

“My priorities for the association are two-fold,” added Jacqueline. “Our tenants need to be our first priority, everything we do must be to ensure that we are improving the quality of their homes and the environment they live in, as a tenant myself that needs to come first.

“Secondly, continued good governance and financial stability to protect the future of the organisation has to be a main goal for the Board. and one that I’m looking forward to delivering on over the course of my tenure.”
