Ayrshire Housing celebrates 20 successful years at AGM

Ayrshire Housing hosted a well-attended AGM last week in its new community space – The Local.

The members present heard that the association continues to enjoy financial health based on excellent day-to-day work by its staff.

Chair Simon Leslie said: “It’s 20 years since Carrick Housing Association and South Ayrshire Homes came together as Ayrshire Housing. The varied activities in The Local reflect well on our commitment to be a real community and tenant-run housing association.”

At the beginning of the year, the board received the results of the latest independent survey of tenants’ views.

Simon added: “The results are still positive, despite all the setbacks to the service we aim to offer due to Covid and more recent disruptions in the construction sector. The Board is focused on getting services back to the old levels and then improving them further. With this, we hope that satisfaction will return to past levels.

“Over the last six months, we have already seen a welcome improvement in the time it takes us to complete repairs and attend to emergencies. This is down to having new contractual arrangements in place which we manage tightly.”

Simon also welcomed the results of a recent independent staff survey in which 100% said that they are proud to work for Ayrshire Housing. This is reflected in 20-year service awards presented to four of the team at the meeting.

The meeting ended with the announcement of the winners of this year’s garden and pet competitions. Everyone was delighted that Miya the cockatiel was named “best in show”. She was wearing her red rosette with pride!
