Barratt and David Wilson Homes open initial phase of travel route

Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes have opened the initial phase of a new travel route connecting Plean Country Park to Stirling.

This summer, the route from Plean Country Park to Roman Road was open to vehicles and marks progress in the delivery of the Durieshill development.

The 3,000-home community, which is the biggest of its kind in Scotland, will be situated on the outskirts of Stirling.

Access to walking and cycling opens up as a result of the new travel route. More work was also delivered to expand the current road network.

The development has been designed around a major network of footpaths, cycle routes and electric vehicle infrastructure.

Once delivered, Durieshill will have 2.5 miles of active travel routes linking the community to the surrounding area.

Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes are delivering Durieshill. The project will see Barratt Redrow’s project teams collaborate closely with Stirling Council as well as other partners.

Next year, the community will formally launch, with show homes scheduled to open during spring and the first private homes will be ready for move-in later that year.

Andrew Curran, managing director of Barratt and David Wilson Homes West, said: “Durieshill is a flagship development, where exemplary design, sustainability and connectivity come together to create a place that will last generations.

“In less than a year, this vision will begin to be seen. Homes will be built, a community hub in place and much of the connectivity networks established.”

Curran added: “Before these milestones can be met, important ground and foundational work must first be completed.

“The opening of the new active travel route and the completion of works at Cadger’s Loan reflect the progress being made across the site each month.”

Private and affordable homes, retail units, a community hub, green space, children’s play areas, and two primary schools will be included in Durieshill.
