Barrhead Housing has appointed Christina Johnston as its new director of customer services.

Christina is currently housing and communities manager at Horizon Housing Association, which provides integrated housing for disabled people across Central Scotland.

She starts in June and succeeds Colin McCulloch, who recently joined Dalmuir Park Housing Association as its new chief executive.

In her current role, Christina provides strategic leadership across housing management, customer services, tenancy sustainment, community engagement and regulatory compliance. This involves leading multi-disciplinary teams, managing significant budgets and ensuring services deliver excellent performance, while maintaining a strong values-based culture rooted in respect, collaboration and accountability.

Barrhead Housing CEO Lorna Wilson said: “Christina was simply outstanding across all stages of what was a highly- competitive and robust selection process.

“With 20 years’ experience in social housing, a proven track record in customer-focused leadership and a strong values-led approach, I am delighted to welcome her to the Barrhead Housing family.”

She added: “Christina is particularly passionate about championing the voice of the customer and strengthening tenant engagement. Her experience in developing partnerships will ensure our services continue to be accessible, inclusive and responsive to community needs.”

Christina, who has two decades of operational and strategic experience, said: “Barrhead Housing has an outstanding reputation as a highly ambitious, totally customer-focused organisation. I can’t wait to get started.”

Her background includes extensive experience in managing change, supporting digital improvements and fostering a culture of learning and wellbeing. She successfully led teams through service reviews and improved online customer journeys, while strengthening performance management.

Lorna added: “I am confident Christina will be an exceptional director and that her leadership will be key to us delivering our 2030 strategy ambitions.”
