Bield seeking volunteers in Glasgow

Silver SurferHousing and care provider Bield is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help reduce isolation and increase community involvement of tenants in Glasgow.

Bield’s Lochar Lodge requires two volunteers to help devise and deliver weekly programs of social activities for the tenants, both in the development and out with.

Michael Grant, senior staff member at Lochar Lodge, said: “The social activities program was introduced so that our tenants could enjoy socialising in the development as well as within the community around them.

“It gives them a chance to go to coffee mornings and various gatherings throughout the year, it really helps brighten up their day.”

“It also fits in with our ‘Free to Be’ ethos, which supports older people to make their own decisions about how they live their day to day lives, while also being on hand to support them when the help is needed.”

The volunteers must have a genuine interest in helping older people but no previous experience is necessary. They need good communication skills and should be confident working in an unsupervised capacity as well as part of a team.

Bield request that for this position you are available on week-day afternoons and a minimum of six months commitment is required.

If you are over 16 and would like to enquire further about becoming part of a team dedicated to enriching the lives of older people in Scotland, please complete the online application form at jobs.bield.co.uk.

Alternatively you can contact Michael Grant on 0141 810 5742 or Donna Dickson on d.dickson@bield.co.uk or 0131 273 4095 for further information.

Please note that this is an unpaid, volunteer position and Bield thank everyone for their enquiry. However, they hope that you understand that all enquiries will not result in volunteer placements.
