Bield tenants wake up and smell the coffee as they raise £750
Mary Thomas, who lives at Kingsburn Court, held the morning in the sitting room at the development for the second consecutive year with the money made being donated to MacMillan Cancer Support.
On offer were homemade cakes, Mary’s own handmade sandwiches and tea and coffee, as well a raffle and tombola with a range of excellent prizes donated by local businesses and tenants at Kingsburn Court.
Using her nous as a former sales rep for a caravan accessories company, Mary was able to secure some fantastic and valuable prizes to encourage people to donate. Including hair treatments at a local salon and, of course, some luxury camping equipment the morning was able to breeze past last year’s fundraising total by £200.
The giving didn’t end with this fantastic donation, though. Any leftovers were delivered to other Bield developments to ensure that nothing was wasted and no one left out.
The event was well attended by Bield tenants, family and friends, while those unable to make it on the day were encouraged to buy raffle tickets in advance ensuring that the donation made to MacMillan was as generous as possible.
Organiser and Bield tenant, Mary Thomas, said, “It’s fantastic to give something back to the community, and to have beaten last year’s donation is testament to the hard work of everyone who helped out in the run-up and on the day.
“People are already asking what we’re going to do to beat that target at the next one. We always keep an eye out for good prizes to give and the local businesses are very generous.”
