Blochairn selects Sanctuary Scotland as preferred transfer partner
Blochairn Housing Association is in discussions with Sanctuary Scotland to explore the potential for a transfer partnership.
Operating in and around Blochairn Place in the Royston area of Glasgow, Blochairn invited expressions of interest for a strategic partner in August after making the decision that transferring to another Registered Social Landlord (RSL) was necessary due to financial instability.
The Association is currently engaging with the Scottish Housing Regulator about governance, financial management, planned organisational changes and tenant and resident safety.
It was seeking a “formal partnership in the shape of a transfer of engagements to an RSL or via an innovative multi-partner approach”.
A new engagement plan for Blochairn, published this week by the Scottish Housing Regulator, revealed the Association has selected Sanctuary Scotland as its preferred transfer partner.
It comes after Sanctuary Scotland submitted a proposal in October to provide Blochairn with asset support.
The engagement plan stated: “In October 2025, Blochairn decided to work with Sanctuary Scotland to explore the potential for a transfer proposal and provision of additional support.
“Blochairn will continue to engage with its key stakeholders, including its tenants and residents, its lenders and the Scottish Government as it explores the potential for a transfer partnership with Sanctuary Scotland.”
Blochairn Housing Association confirmed that early talks with Sanctuary Scotland are underway.
A spokesperson for Blochairn Housing Association told Scottish Housing News: “Following careful consideration, we have selected Sanctuary Scotland as our preferred transfer partner. We are at the initial stages of discussions with Sanctuary Scotland and will share further information on the proposed transfer with our tenants as soon as we are able.”
