Bridgewater Housing Association launches new Guiding Statement at AGM

Bridgewater Housing Association held its 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, 10th September 2025, welcoming members and guests to its offices in India of Inchinnan.

Despite ongoing sector-wide challenges, the Association reported another strong year of progress, innovation, and community impact.

Chairperson John Paterson opened the meeting by acknowledging the dedication of the board and staff, and paid tribute to two long-serving board members, former chairperson Alastair Morris and Ken McIntosh, who stepped down after years of outstanding service.

Chief executive Andy Thomson presented a comprehensive overview of the Association’s achievements in 2024/2025, highlighting continued transformation across services, technology, and community engagement.

Key highlights of the year included:

    • Organisational Growth: Completion of the second phase of staff restructuring and a culture review to enhance service delivery.
    • Technological Advancements: Upgraded IT systems and a new dynamic purchasing system for repairs, improving efficiency and tenant satisfaction.
    • Community Engagement: The Tenant Gala Day in August 2024 was a resounding success, reinforcing Bridgewater’s role as a community anchor.
    • Enhanced Services: Transition to Amenity Plus housing and real-time billing for owners improved support and transparency.
    • Housing Expansion: Strategic partnerships and the addition of new homes through the ROTS program expanded the housing portfolio.
    • Tenant Support: Continued provision of financial, energy, and wellbeing assistance in response to the cost-of-living crisis.

A key focus of the AGM was the launch of the Association’s new Purpose > Way > Impact™ statement, a guiding framework for its future journey.

Andy Thomson, CEO, emphasised the significance of the statement in reaffirming Bridgewater’s role beyond that of a traditional landlord.

“Our Purpose > Way > Impact™ statement is at the heart of our future journey,” said Andy Thomson. “It’s a shared long-term commitment to making Erskine not just a place to live, but a place to flourish. We are committed to shaping a bright future for our tenants, owners, and the wider communities we serve, ensuring we play a central role in improving lives.”

The AGM concluded with a prize draw and a heartfelt farewell to departing board members.
