Charity Spotlight: Launch Foods receives ‘transformational’ cash injection
A Glasgow-based charity has said a generous donation will transform the scale and scope of its services, supporting the charity to feed and deliver food packages for more vulnerable young people across the city.
The donation to Launch Foods came from Barratt Homes West Scotland, which raised funds for its charity of the year at an annual Charity Dinner and Awards Evening in February.
Barratt West Scotland and its suppliers, contractors, business partners and guests raised an incredible £167,000 for Launch Foods, bringing the total for good causes over the past decade to more than £1 million.
The funds will have a transformational impact on Launch Foods, a small, community-based charity serving children and families across Glasgow. The £167,000 donation will finance the charity’s entire year of operations, enabling it to continue providing vital food support to local children affected by poverty and food insecurity.
Craig Johnson of Launch Foods said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity shown by Barratt Homes West Scotland and everyone involved in the Charity Dinner. As a small charity, this level of support is transformational. The £167,000 raised will fund all of our work for the coming year, allowing us to continue supporting local children and families who rely on our services.
“This donation gives us security and the ability to plan ahead, expand our reach and focus on what matters most which is making sure children across Glasgow have access to the food and support they need to thrive.”
Launch Foods works directly within local schools and communities to ensure children have access to nutritious meals and support when they need it most. The scale of this year’s fundraising means stability, security and sustained support for hundreds of local families.
Andy Curran, managing director of Barratt Homes West Scotland, said: “We are incredibly proud to have raised £167,000 for Launch Foods at this year’s Charity Dinner. Reaching the milestone of £1 million raised for charitable causes over the past 10 years is a testament to the generosity and commitment of our team, our partners and our wider supply chain.
“What makes this year particularly special is the direct and immediate impact this funding will have. Launch Foods is a small, local charity doing vital work for children and families across Glasgow. Knowing that the funds raised will cover their operating costs for an entire year and help ensure no child in our community goes without food is truly humbling.”
The Charity Dinner and Awards Evening brought together colleagues, partners and supporters for a night of celebration and fundraising, recognising both business achievements and community impact. The event highlighted Barratt Homes West Scotland’s long-standing commitment to supporting local communities and tackling food poverty at a grassroots level.
