Organisers have praised the kindness of the city’s people after Perth Silent Auction raised over £30,000 for local causes.
After a day of frantic online bidding - on over 240 lots donated by local businesses - officials from organisers, Rotary Club of Perth, tallied up a final sum of £30,424 on Saturday night.
It has raised nearly £ 550,000 by the annual Auction since its inauguration in 2007.
Three deserving charities, ANDYSMANCLUB, Beautiful Perth and Cornhill Macmillan Palliative Care Unit will all receive crucial funds to carry on vital community activities.
Around 2000 bids were placed in total, on lots ranging from luxury breaks to business services and hospitality packages at St Johnstone FC.
David Lindsay, auction convener, said: “I’d like to thank all our wonderful supporters: the amazing businesses who have generously given items for sale - many of whom have been doing this for years - we are incredibly grateful.
“Also, the amazing buyers who have dug deep in their droves to support our charities. This is directly helping people in our community.
“Sincere thanks from the auction team and we wish all our supporters a very merry Christmas.”
Ewan Bannerman, Rotary Club of Perth, said the city’s people have taken the Auction to their hearts, at a time when charities are seeing funding reduced.
“The auction really shows how the people of Perth will always come good when it comes to supporting our Rotary Charities.
“If everyone gives a little, we can really be a force for good.”
