Consultation launched for new homes at Govan Graving Docks site

Plans for the site of the Govan Graving Docks are being brought forward after a Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN) was submitted to Glasgow City Council.

The submission signals the start of a 12-week pre-application consultation period on the residential element of the project, giving the public the opportunity to leave feedback which can shape the developer’s plans.

Taking a hybrid form, the consultation programme will include both online and in-person events. An in-person session will be held on Thursday 25 August and Thursday 6 October at The Riverside Hall between 11:00am - 4:30pm before an evening session on both dates at The Pearce Institute (840-860 Govan Rd, Govan, Glasgow G51 3UU) between 5:30-7:30pm.

In addition, two live interactive chat sessions will be held on Tuesday 30th August and Tuesday 11th October between 3-7pm and will be accessible via the project website.

The proposals, first announced last month, would see the site transformed into a thriving community space, incorporating a bold and imaginative balance between creating new homes, preserving, repairing and reopening the docks - while inviting other exciting and compatible uses.

“The submission of the Proposal of Application Notice marks the next stage in our project timeline and kickstarts our statutory 12-week pre-application consultation programme.

It is anticipated that a planning application will be submitted to Glasgow City Council for the new residential element of the proposals, towards the end of the year, following the conclusion of the 12-week pre-application consultation period.
