Consultation to launch on Moray Council housing policies
Moray Council is consulting on updated housing policies covering estate management, pets and home alterations.
The six-week consultation – hosted on Moray Engage - is asking for views from current tenants and housing applicants and will run from Friday 19 June until Friday 31 July 2026. The surveys will also be sent directly to tenants.
The Estate Management Policy sets out a more proactive approach to managing issues in council housing, such as communal areas, litter and anti-social behaviour, with a stronger focus on early intervention and partnership working with Police Scotland and environmental health teams.
A new Pet Policy provides rules for tenants on keeping animals in council homes; including the standards expected of pet owners and clearer limits on unsuitable pets such as dangerous dogs.
The Permissions Policy sets out how tenants apply for approval to carry out home improvements or alterations. It introduces clearer assessment criteria, standard timescales and conditions to help protect properties and neighbouring homes.
Councillor Amber Dunbar, chair of Moray Council’s Housing and Community Safety Committee, said: “This consultation is an important opportunity for tenants and applicants to help shape how we manage council housing in Moray. We want to make sure the policies are clear and fair, and I would encourage people to take part and share their views.”
Feedback from the consultation will be used to refine the policies before they are brought back to committee for final consideration in September 2026.
