Cullross unveils plans for 49 affordable homes in Forfar

Affordable housing specialists Cullross Ltd has submitted plans to build 49 affordable homes just off Lour Road, Forfar.

Angus Council sold the 3.5 acres of land, situated beside Forfar Day Care Centre and the former Beech Hill House care home, to the Edinburgh-based developer last year.

The site was previously a market garden but it is now heavily overgrown and a two-storey house there has long been boarded up. The site was originally declared surplus to Angus Council requirements in 2013.

The proposed development would include a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses, three-bedroom garden flats and two-bedroom duplex units. The units will have private garden areas and associated amenity space along with cycle stores and recycling/refuse areas.

Mark Beaton, director of Cullross Ltd, said: “Cullross are pleased to have submitted a planning application for 49 affordable residential units. The proposals provide a mix of unit types to meet the housing needs of the area.

“The development would be contemporary with a simple and restrained palette of materials to allow it to sit well within the existing residential context.

“We have carefully reviewed the site constraints and developed our proposals which would, should the planning be approved, provide homes that are equally accessible, adaptable and within a safe and secure development.”

The project design team includes jmarchitects, Goodson Associates – engineers, Hulley & Kirkwood – MEP consultants and IAS Landscape – landscape architect.
