Cunninghame development officially opened by housing secretary
A new affordable housing development that will provide 74 sustainable and high-quality homes in Dumfries & Galloway has been officially opened.
Designed to meet specific local need, the Stansfield Farm development in Eastriggs will provide safe and affordable homes for local families, older residents and people requiring accessible housing.
The new homes will be made available for social rent, comprising 53 general needs homes, 20 amenity homes and 1 wheelchair-standard home.
Developed by Cunninghame Housing Association, the total cost of the project was £16.4 million - with the Scottish Government providing grant funding of £11.4m.
Officially opening the new development, housing secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville said: “This government is delivering on our promise to increase the affordable housing supply that communities across the country need.
“These 74 new homes for social rent have been developed to meet local demand for a diverse range of households and crucially, support the ongoing regeneration of Eastriggs - in turn boosting population retention and growth in the wider area.
“Our record £926m funding for affordable housing this year is part of our £4.9 billion investment in the coming four years which will deliver tens of thousands of affordable homes. We remain focused on our target of delivering 110,000 affordable homes by 2032, with at least 70% for social rent and 10% in rural and island areas.”
