Cunninghame Housing Association (CHA) has presented a cheque for £1,000 to support events hosted by Annan Riding of the Marches.

Annan Riding of the Marches is organised by a voluntary committee. It is one of the largest and oldest historical traditional ceremonies in south west Scotland dating back almost 700 years. Now, to the present day, two weeks of culture, ceremonial and community events take place with the peak of ‘Marches Day’. The committee’s aim is to keep up the tradition of the town and hold the annual programme of events.

Stuart Thompson MBE, chairperson of Annan Riding of the Marches, said: “We are extremely privileged to receive funding once again from Cunninghame Housing Association. Working together with the Association, and receiving the great amount, lets us maintain the high standards of events over two weeks.”

Cunninghame’s funding helps support key pieces of infrastructure and ceremonial items to help make the whole event a success.

Lesley Keenan, chairperson of CHA, added: “We are delighted to have supported another year of, Annan Riding of the Marches. I am sure it will have been as successful as earlier years. This is thanks to the dedicated voluntary committee who give up their personal time to make the event happen.”
