Designs advance for Corunna Street plans in Glasgow

Designs have been advanced by Coltart Earley Architecture and Glasgow West Housing Association for a tenement in Glasgow’s Corunna Street to strengthen its alignment to the conservation area setting.
Initially submitted in 2022, the revision replaces glass reinforced plastic (GRP) with sandstone on a top-floor string course, Urban Realm reports.
The removal of fake boiler flues from the front facade is among the other amendments.
The architects said: “Change of profile of the top floor stringer on the front elevation, changing its material from GRP to Sandstone, and reducing its profile depth from 350mm to 60mm.
“The reduction in depth and weight allows this to be built in sandstone, to match the front elevation materials, and addresses issues regarding the combustibility of a GRP product.”
