Taylor Wimpey West Scotland and CALA Homes (West) have submitted a detailed planning application to East Renfrewshire Council for 645 new homes at Maidenhill in Newton Mearns.

The 78.5 acre site off Ayr Rd is zoned for residential development within the East Renfrewshire Local Development Plan, and it forms part of the wider M77 Corridor Strategic Development site.

The proposed development area comprises two separate sites which will be developed by the two firms. In addition to a range of 625 private new homes with a mix of two-five bedroom styles of properties, the detailed proposal also incorporates plans to provide 20 affordable homes, as well as improvements to the transport infrastructure.

The landscape framework is also a key part of the vision for the proposed development at Maidenhill, and it will ensure there is integrated approach to amenity, connectivity, biodiversity, ecology and drainage.

The proposals provide details of a broad provision of public open space that will include a generous linear park that runs through the entire development, an extensive network of paths and woodland walks for cyclists and pedestrians, as well as pockets of active play areas. Two substantial areas of land within the northwest and southwest areas of the proposed development will remain undeveloped as natural open spaces.
