Dores council housing bid deferred for second time

A decision on plans to build 17 new affordable homes at Dores has been deferred for a second time by a Highland Council planning committee.
The local authority’s own proposal seeks to deliver a mix of single and two-storey builds on the sloping fields and higher ground on the northern edge of Dores, to the east of the B862.
The decision follows concerns voiced by residents of Drummussie Lodge, who would be overlooked by the proposed two-storey homes.
The application had previously faced objections from Dores and Essich Community Council on similar grounds.
Councillor David Fraser said it looked like “a very nice proposal” and praised the council’s housing team for fixing flooding issues that had previously delayed the development, but added that the lodge residents had already lost “a lot of light” due to construction in the area.
He added: “I know how much these homes are needed,” but wanted to see changes made to the north side of the development to prevent Drummussie Lodge from being affected.
