Double celebration for Link's ‘life-changing’ starter packs

Link Group has marked the second birthday of its life-changing Home Starter Pack initiative with a celebration cake for its housing teams who manage the programme.

Alongside the initiative’s anniversary, the team also celebrated the 250th Home Starter Pack reaching someone in need of a hand in setting up their home.

Launched as a pilot in July 2024, the Home Starter Pack project was introduced with the goal of helping people moving from homelessness into their new Link homes succeed in their tenancies by providing practical home essentials. The packs include items such as cooking equipment, bedding, crockery, cutlery, and cleaning materials.

The original 50-pack pilot was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from Link colleagues and tenants and has now entered its second year of helping individuals and families feel more comfortable and empowered in managing their new tenancies.

Sarah Smith, Link Group executive director, communities, said: “The Home Starter Packs project continues to make a huge difference in the lives of some of our customers.

“Too many people walk through the door of their new tenancy with almost nothing to help them make it feel like home and without the funds to purchase the immediate necessities of everyday living. These starter packs aim to restore a sense of dignity and comfort while helping people to feel more secure and cared for in their new homes.

“The success of the project has been the result of collaboration across the organisation and all our teams’ commitment to improving lives across our communities.”
