Link Group's Dunbeg development wins top affordable housing award

Link Group is celebrating a prestigious award win after its Dunbeg Phase 3 development in Oban was named Affordable Development of the Year – Large at this year’s Homes for Scotland Awards.

The award was announced at a ceremony last Friday, recognising the scale, quality and ambition of the development, which is delivering vital affordable housing to the Argyll & Bute area.

Link Group commercial director and managing director of C~urb, Colin Culross, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Dunbeg Phase 3 has received this recognition from Homes for Scotland.

“This award reflects the significant effort, collaboration and commitment shown by everyone involved in the project.

“Our partners and colleagues have delivered a large-scale development that prioritises affordability, quality, placemaking and sustainability – all in one of Scotland’s most stunning locations.

“We’re proud to be playing a part in addressing housing need in Oban and supporting the long-term growth and resilience of the Dunbeg community.”

This award adds to growing recognition of Link’s role in delivering high-quality, affordable homes across Scotland. The Dunbeg development forms a key part of a wider masterplan to support sustainable growth in the area.

Phase 3 alone has delivered over 300 homes for social rent, mid-market rent and New Supply Shared Equity, alongside new community infrastructure and enhanced landscaping.

Funded in partnership with the Scottish Government and Argyll & Bute Council, and delivered by Link’s development partners, including Elder & Cannon Architects, Gillespies LLP, G3 Consulting Engineers, Armour Construction Consultants, Carbon Futures and MacLeod Construction Ltd, the project supports national ambitions to increase the supply of affordable homes in rural and island communities.

In February, Link submitted planning applications for Phase 4 of the Dunbeg development, which, if approved, will deliver a further 433 homes critical to helping address Argyll’s housing emergency along with a commercial zone and community facilities to create a sustainable community.
