Eildon’s Extra Care Service receives high praise from Care Inspectorate

Eildon Housing’s extra care services at Poynder Apartments in Kelso have welcomed a positive inspection by the Care Inspectorate.

Staff were noted for their positive interactions with tenants and were praised for consistently being warm and respectful, and creating a social environment which was filled with kindness and genuine enjoyment.

Staff were also found to be attentive to individuals, supporting tenants’ needs at a pace which was comfortable for them, with one tenant commenting: “Staff regularly go above and beyond the assistance they provide and are always available during difficult times.”

Amanda Miller, Eildon’s director of community services, said: “We are extremely proud of the high quality of care that our staff team provides at Poynder Apartments, a relatively new service in Kelso. For the report to identify the genuine care and dedication each member of the team displays is a true credit to them.

“It was especially heartening to read that the relaxed and cheerful atmosphere allows tenants to feel safe and inclusive, which enables them to engage and feel comfortable with staff and their peers. Well done everyone, a fantastic team effort!”

The service received consistent Grade 4 - ‘Good’ ratings for the quality of regulated care and support.

A spokesperson for Eildon said: “We always value the feedback from the Care Inspectorate which we use to continue to improve the care and support we provide.”
