Elderpark Housing has paid tribute to one of its serving management committee members Barbara Wilson who has died.

In common with so many servants of the housing association movement, Barbara gave many years of commitment to housing,

She was a well-known face at various housing-related conferences often accompanied by former Elderpark chair Elspeth Millen BEM.

They forged a long-standing friendship to such an extent that Elspeth – who retired from Elderpark in 2019 – conducted part of her funeral service which was held last week.

Elspeth said: “Barbara was utterly devoted to housing and the desire to deliver good homes for the community we served. She was passionate about standing up for tenants and their needs. I will miss her friendship greatly.”

Gary Dalziel, chief executive of Elderpark Housing, said: “Barbara’s long commitment to the work of Elderpark is a testament to how devoted she was to community-based housing.

“Barbara personified the selfless dedication of so many servants of the housing association movement with her long service for which we, as a housing association, are truly grateful.

“Everyone at Elderpark sends their condolences to her family at this especially sad time.”

Barbara who was 76 is survived by her daughter Heather, son Gavin and her grandchildren.
