Fife Housing Group brings the feel-good factor to Dunfermline

Fife Housing Group’s recent ‘Being well’ community event welcomed local residents to celebrate wellbeing in all its forms, with an afternoon full of positivity, socialising and support at St Ninian’s Parish Church in the Abbeyview area of Dunfermline.

With a focus on the four foundations of wellbeing – financial, mental, physical and social – the event provided an inclusive and engaging space for all ages.

Attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including guided yoga sessions, calming breathing exercises and an adult art class hosted by one of their tenants. Support was available through local partner organisations, including Andy’s Man Club, Cosy Kingdom, the Salvation Army, Samaritans and NEST Peer Support.

A highlight of the day was the free fruit and vegetable stand, where visitors could pick up fresh produce to take home, while staying hydrated with a refreshment station offering fruit and herb-infused water and other healthy treats. Families also particularly enjoyed the kids’ activity corner, which kept little ones busy with ceramic painting and drawing.

The first five people to arrive received a free slow cooker and goodie bags were given out to the next ten households. There was also a raffle with some great wellness-themed prizes.

Suzanne Hume, engagement officer at Fife Housing Group, said: “We were thrilled with how our ‘Being well’ event was received in Abbeyview. Everyone got stuck in and the energy was really positive.

“It was inspiring to see people of all ages coming together to explore what wellbeing means to them and we’re grateful to all of our partners who helped make it such a warm, welcoming and supportive environment for those who attended.”

This was the second event in the ‘Being well’ series and the social landlord plans to continue its focus on this theme after a lot of positive feedback from attendees.

The next community event will celebrate the Giving Something Back Grants with an evening of Pitches, Prizes and Pizza at Rosyth Parish Church on Thursday 28 August. Everyone is welcome to attend, and free pizza will be available to enjoy while local groups present their project ideas to a Dragons’ Den-style panel.

As spaces are limited, RSVPs are essential via the Fife Housing Group website by Thursday 14 August.
