Fifers urged to apply for grant to protect against flooding

Property owners across Fife affected by – or at risk of – flooding are urged to apply for support through Fife Council’s Property Flood Resilience Grant (PFRG) scheme.

Grants of up to £5,000 per property are on offer to help private homeowners and businesses install measures that make buildings more resilient to flooding and speed up recovery after extreme weather events.

Flooding has become a growing problem in Fife. Over the past four years, around 1,300 flooding incidents have been reported.

As part of the application process, the council can help applicants arrange a property flood assessment report through the Scottish Flood Forum.

More information, including full eligibility criteria, is available at www.fife.gov.uk/PFRG.

The grant was launched in February 2024 to offer property owners the opportunity to fund measures to help them protect their property during extreme weather events. communities for the increasing risks linked to climate change.

The Property Flood Resilience Grant is already providing much-needed help to households and businesses affected by flooding, while also helping protect against future risks. The scheme has been extended with a funding pot of £309k available for 2025/26.
