Free webinar to help social landlords tackle rising cyber risks

Social housing organisations across the UK are invited to a free introductory cyber security webinar designed to help housing teams understand the growing cyber risks facing the sector – and what simple, practical steps they can take to reduce them.

The session, Introduction to Cyber Security for Social Housing, is being delivered by the Cyber and Fraud Centre – Scotland and is aimed at housing associations, local authority housing teams and third sector housing providers.

As social landlords increasingly rely on digital systems to manage tenant data, rent payments and repairs, they have become an attractive target for cyber criminals. Attacks on housing providers can lead to service disruption, data breaches and significant recovery costs.

This free webinar will provide a clear, jargon-free overview of:

  • The most common cyber threats that affect social housing organisations
  • Why housing providers are increasingly targeted
  • Real-world examples of incidents in the sector
  • Simple, low-cost actions organisations can take to improve cyber resilience
  • Where to go for help if something does go wrong.

The session is designed for non-technical staff as well as IT and governance team members, and no prior cyber security knowledge is required.

Jude McCorry, CEO of the Cyber and Fraud Centre – Scotland, added: “Social housing providers hold large volumes of sensitive data and deliver essential services to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. Cyber security isn’t just an IT issue; it’s a service continuity and tenant trust issue.

“This session is about demystifying cyber security and giving housing teams the confidence to take practical steps, even with limited time and budget.”
