Full plans lodged for Glasgow office to student development

Detailed plans have now been submitted for new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) in Glasgow city centre.

Bankfoot APAM wants to replace a highly energy-inefficient office building at 38 Cadogan Street that is no longer viable to modernise.

To be designed by Russ Drage Architects, the project will deliver 259 student bedrooms in a mix of studio apartments and cluster flats, with a mix of amenity spaces including a rooftop growing garden to support mental wellbeing and encourage interaction with nature, a dedicated cooking classroom to promote healthy eating and life skills, communal roof terrace, gym and study spaces.

Bankfoot APAM is providing development management on behalf of an overseas property fund.

It held consultation events earlier this year following the submission of a Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN).

The company said: “The project forms part of the continued regeneration of Glasgow’s city core, with the development being carefully designed to respond to its urban context and deliver a modern, high-quality student living environment, with a strong emphasis on wellbeing, sustainability and placemaking.

“The building’s specification includes high-performance energy and sustainability credentials, targeting long-term operational efficiency and environmental impact reduction.”
