Glasgow apartment conversion refused by councillors

Plans to convert empty floors above a KFC restaurant at 106 Renfield Street in central Glasgow has been refused by councillors.

The applicants intended to build nine two-bedroom flats and a roof extension in the vacant second and third floors of the building.

Plans also included creating new roof accommodation.

However, Glasgow City Council refused permission citing concerns that the roof extension would dominate the building and not tie in with the architectural character of the premises or the surrounding area.
