Glasgow City Council approves plans for over 30,000 new homes
Glasgow City Council has approved a new development plan that earmarks land for more than 30,000 homes and sets out proposals to support the regeneration of the city centre over the next decade.
The council’s City Development Plan 2 will guide future planning decisions, with a 12-week public consultation due to begin in late August.
The strategy identifies 36 development areas, including sites along the River Clyde corridor and in north and north-east Glasgow, with a focus on redeveloping brownfield land for housing.
It also includes regeneration plans for the town centres of Drumchapel, Easterhouse, Shawlands and Castlemilk, The Glasgow Times reports.
Councillor Ruairi Kelly said the plan would help deliver new homes, create jobs and attract investment to support Glasgow’s long-term economic growth.
