Glasgow invites applications for vacant and derelict land fund
Organisations with proposals to bring vacant and derelict land in Glasgow back into productive use are now invited to apply for funding through the Scottish Government’s Vacant and Derelict Land Fund.
Glasgow has been allocated £1.907 million by the Scottish Government to support local organisations - including charities, community groups and housing associations - deliver projects aimed at further reducing vacant and derelict land by returning these sites to productive use.
Those considering applying should note that applications must demonstrate that proposed projects will meet one or more of the following objectives for the Fund:
- stimulate economic growth;
- create jobs;
- promote environmental justice and improved quality of life; and
- support communities to flourish and tackle inequalities.
To be eligible for funding, the proposed site must have been listed for at least 15 years on the Vacant and Derelict Land (VDL) Register.
In recent years, the Vacant and Derelict Land Fund has been vital in the successful work to continue the reduction in the amount of VDL. In 2024, a net reduction of 53 hectares of vacant and derelict land was recorded - the equivalent of 72 full-sized football pitches.
Interested applicants should email pbip@glasgow.gov.uk for more information and/or an application pack.
Applications are invited until the closing date of 3 March
