Govanhill Housing Association has appointed Bryan McMahon as its new director of development and property services, bringing more than 15 years of social housing experience to the Association.

Joining from Linthouse Housing Association, where he served as director of property services, the new director arrives at an important time for the organisation and will play a key role in helping shape future investment and service delivery across Govanhill’s housing stock.

Having begun his career in the construction industry, Bryan moved into social housing in 2009 and has since built extensive experience in property management, asset investment and customer-focused service delivery.

Speaking about his appointment, he said: “Moving into social housing was the best career decision I have made. The opportunity to join Govanhill was particularly appealing because of the Association’s ethos and values, which closely align with my own. With a new CEO in place, it felt like an exciting time to be part of something that makes a real difference for people living in Govanhill and Merrylee.”

Bryan said his ambition is to build on the strong foundations already in place, supporting staff and strengthening services while ensuring investment decisions are informed by robust data and a clear understanding of customer needs.

“There is so much that is positive about Govanhill, and I would like to see that recognised more widely because the area and the people who live here deserve it,” he added.

“I want Govanhill to be an organisation that embraces opportunity and is always looking at how it can improve services and outcomes for the communities we serve.”

Welcoming the appointment, chief executive Jennifer Cairns said: “We are delighted to welcome Bryan McMahon to Govanhill Housing Association. He brings a wealth of experience from both the construction and social housing sectors, and I know he shares our ambition to provide excellent services for our customers, to ensure Govanhill continues to make a positive difference in the lives of local people.

“His commitment to delivering excellent customer service will be invaluable as we prepare to launch our new Business Strategy, placing customers firmly at the heart of everything we do.”
