Grampian Housing Association used its 50th anniversary year as the ideal time to launch its new Great Neighbour award.
It also tied in nicely with the theme of Scottish Housing Day earlier this week, which was ‘Everybody needs good neighbours’.
After receiving heart-warming nominations from across the North East of Scotland, Grampian was delighted to announce the winners of the award, which recognises exceptional tenants who go above and beyond to support their neighbours and are great assets to their communities.
Congratulations went to Lorraine & Robert Philips (Aberdeen), Lynn Johnson, (Moray) and Isobel Forbes, (Aberdeenshire).
Each of these remarkable individuals highlight the values of kindness, community spirit, and respect that are at the heart of this award. From helping others with daily tasks, offering a listening ear and raising awareness of wildlife and sustainability, they have shown what it truly means to be a great neighbour.
On receiving her award, Isobel Forbes said: “I was really surprised when I received the call letting me know I had won. I hadn’t heard about the award and didn’t know I had been nominated. I am always happy to help and don’t expect recognition but it is good to feel appreciated.”
Carol Reid, director of customer services, said: “We would like to thank everyone who submitted nominations. We were overwhelmed by the amount that we received, a total of 173! These nominations helped shine a light on the unsung heroes in our neighbourhoods so thank you to our tenants for making their communities better places to live.”
Each winner receives a £50 gift voucher in recognition of their contributions.
Scottish Housing Day was celebrated by Grampian Housing Association at its monthly staff development session.
