Merchant Homes will now bring forward the development which is set to be located at Stepford Road, just north of the city’s Edinburgh Road.

The initial phase of homes will include a mix of two, three and four-bedroom detached, semi-detached and terraced homes.

Space for a play-park and seating areas are also included in the plans.

The site was previously made up of over 250 flats which were demolished due to their condition and difficulties with letting them.

A planning report states: “The proposed development site occupies an area of vacant land which was formerly occupied by post war flatted social housing.

“It is bounded to the north by Wardie Road, to the west by Wellhouse Road, to the east by Glasgow Business Park and to the south by the Stepford Sports Park.

“The site has been cleared of the previous housing although the roads remain in place.

“Our vision for the development at Stepford Road is to create a new and attractive development for a long term sustainable future.

“This will have a distinct identity, with pleasant well designed spaces where people will feel safe.

“The open spaces will be designed to be flexible, useful and attractive. They will include areas equipped for play and seating.”

The planning application was submitted to Glasgow City Council in June last year.
