Green light for Isle of Mull housing and retail development

Argyll and Bute Council has approved plans for a housing and retail development at Craignure on the Isle of Mull.

Local developer TSL Contractors, which owns the site, will now deliver 73 private homes, 24 affordable homes and a retail unit on the island.

Macarthur Development Consultants assisted with the planning process.

Announcing the result on LinkedIn, director Kenny Macarthur said: “After a lengthy planning process, the approval secured will greatly assist housing provision on the Isle of Mull and in the first council area to declare a housing emergency. The scale of the proposed development has the potential to increase the population of the island by over 10% providing much needed new build private and affordable homes.”

The wider design team included Threesixty Architecture, Bayne Stevenson Associates, Envirocentre, Hirst Landscape Architects and ECS Transport Planning.

A public event was held in Craignure Village Hall and an online consultation ran until December 29.

TSL hopes to begin the first stage of construction this month.
