Ground broken on new affordable housing site at St Ninians

Spades are in the ground at a new housing development site which will deliver much-needed new council housing in St Ninians.
Construction is underway on the site at Graystale Road which will deliver 44 housing units for Stirling Council. Previously, the site had been vacant since 2012 and planning permission for the new development was granted in August 2024.
The Graystale Road development will comprise:
- 8 x 1 bedroom cottage flats
- 8 x 2 bedroom cottage flats
- 12 x 2 bedroom houses
- 8 x 3 bedroom houses
- 4 x 4 bedroom houses
- 2 x 2 bedroom houses wheelchair accessible units
- 1 x 3 bedroom houses wheelchair accessible unit
- 1 x 4 bedroom houses wheelchair accessible unit

The energy efficient homes, which will be retained by Stirling Council for social rent, are estimated to be completed by Spring 2027. Heating and hot water systems will be provided via Air Source Heat Pumps and each unit will be fitted with solar panels with battery storage to provide and store solar energy to help progress towards all new properties achieving Scottish Government net zero targets.
Housing convener, Cllr Willie Ferguson said: “I’m delighted to see construction works get underway for new council housing at Graystale Road, St Ninians.
“The location is ideal for transport links, schools and local amenities and these houses will be a much welcome addition to the local community when completed.

“I am particularly pleased that these energy efficient houses will help tenants and families in a cost of living crisis.
“Simply put, we need more houses. The current Strategic Housing Investment Plan aims to deliver almost 900 high quality affordable homes within the next five years and we are delighted to support this development in St Ninians, as we have on other sites from Balmaha to Cowie.”
CCG has been appointed as the main contractor to build the homes on Graystale Road.
