At its AGM held in Callander, the Association highlighted two of its recent housing developments – one now finished and occupied by tenants at Killearn and the other due for completion at Balmaha next year.

The Association said both were proof of its commitment to carry on creating much-needed affordable homes across Stirlingshire.

Newly-released aerial images show for the first time the progress of the work at Balmaha, which commenced at the start of the year.

The £5.8 million development being built by developer CCG will create 20 new homes in a picturesque location on the banks of Loch Lomond.

In her address to the AGM, RSHA chair Fiona Boath said: “We understand the importance of building new homes in our rural communities. The development at Balmaha is due to be completed in the spring of next year bringing more new homes to a community where they are so badly needed.”

Fiona also revealed the extent to which the housing association was improving its existing housing which is spread across Stirlingshire.

She added: “Whilst building new homes, we must not lose sight of our existing homes. Investment in our homes remains a priority, and during the year we completed window and external door replacements to 33 homes, upgraded heating systems in 42 homes, and carried out a range of other planned maintenance and major repair works across our properties.

“The total expenditure on maintenance and major repairs amounted to approximately £777,000, demonstrating our continued commitment to providing safe, high-quality homes for our tenants.”

Fiona said the housing association continued to collaborate closely with other organisations – notably Stirling Council and Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park – both of whom it described as “valued partners” in its work. The Association has also worked in partnership with East Loch Lomond Community Trust, with whom it had forged a close relationship with regard to the Balmaha development.

The AGM also heard from its keynote speaker, Mary Taylor, former chief executive of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and who had a long and distinguished career in the community-based housing association movement.

In her address to members, Mary praised the work of housing associations in general and RSHA in particular saying they performed a vital role in Scottish life by delivering affordable housing to many people.
