As part of the new role, Stanfield will become a member of Hanover’s Executive Leadership Team.

Stanfield replaces Donna Henderson, who recently left Hanover to become chief executive of Thenue Housing. 

Following a very competitive recruitment process, Stanfield was picked, bringing a senior leadership background from the public sector as well as purpose-led organisations.

In response to the appointment, Angela Currie, Hanover’s chief executive, said: “Deborah was an exceptional candidate and brings a tremendous breadth of experience from a range of senior public sector leadership roles. 

“Her expertise in financial strategy, organisational transformation and governance will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen Hanover’s services and shape our future ambitions.”

Stanfield said: “Hanover has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality services and making a meaningful difference to people’s lives. 

“I look forward to working with employees, customers, Board members and partners to support the organisation’s continued success, financial resilience and future growth.”

In Stanfield’s career, she has spearheaded major transformation programmes within finance, digital services, infrastructure and operational delivery.

Stanfield’s background includes financial strategy and resilience, organisational transformation, governance, audit and assurance, risk management, commercial services and the stewardship of major public investment.

Stanfield has worked with intricate public sector, cultural and purpose-driven organisations. 

Stanfield is also an experienced non-executive director and has advised boards and senior leaders on strategic priorities such as governance, financial resilience, transformation and organisational sustainability.

At present, Stanfield is pursuing further study in AI and organisational leadership through the University of Oxford.
