Hebridean Housing Partnership Grimsay homes plan clears planning hurdle
Hebridean Housing Partnership’s plans for eight new homes at Scotvein on Grimsay will not require a full environmental impact assessment.
The proposed development includes the houses, a shared access road, a sewage system and surface water management infrastructure.
The site in question is located opposite the Ceann Na H-airigh community centre, which itself has planning permission for extensions, the Herald reports.
Planning officers at the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar stated that the housing scheme would complement rather than conflict with the community hub, potentially boosting support for its facilities once both have been completed.
While acknowledging some disruption could occur if both projects are built simultaneously, the council concluded that the “modest scale” of development and standard mitigation measures would prevent any significant cumulative impact during construction.
Any future planning application will require a detailed Peat Management Plan.
