Housing Options Scotland to head out on tour

Housing Options Scotland, the national charity that provides free information and advice to help disabled people, older adults and veterans to make informed decisions about housing, is going out on tour across Scotland this Autumn.

The tour, which opens in Dundee on Wednesday 30 September and has additional dates in Aberdeen, Ayr, Glasgow and Edinburgh, will provide the opportunity for health and housing professionals to find out more about the charity and for individuals to get help with their housing needs.

Housing Options Scotland is the only housing advice charity to work across all local authorities in Scotland and across all tenures from homelessness to ownership. Its team of expert brokers provides person-centred support and advice on selling and buying, private or social renting, sheltered housing, housing for older adults, adapting homes, veterans housing and homelessness.

The tour has two sessions at each stop. The morning sessions (10am-12.30pm) are for individuals looking for housing advice, with the opportunity to register to get further 1-to-1 support.

The afternoon sessions (1.30pm-4pm) are for professionals who work in housing (or related fields) to find out more about Housing Options Scotland. As well as taking referrals for bespoke casework service, the charity also provides training and consultancy to housing associations, local authorities and third sector organisations.

All sessions will be attended by staff team members, volunteers and board members, as well as former clients who have been helped by the charity to find a home that suits their needs. Light refreshments will be provided.

Moira Bayne, CEO of Housing Options Scotland, said: “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to go out to five cities across Scotland to meet people face-to-face to help with questions on housing. This is individuals who need direct support and advice to help them navigate an often complex housing system, but also professionals in the housing sector who can refer clients to us or who we can work with to develop ways of helping more people into the right homes.”
