Hundreds sign up to save on fuel in North Lanarkshire
More than 700 households have signed up to save money on their fuel bills through North Lanarkshire Council’s Big Switch scheme.
Closing tonight, the Big Switch is open to all households and small businesses and aims to help reduce energy costs by collective switching.
Similar fuel switching schemes held in other parts of the United Kingdom have saved households, on average, £221 on their annual bill.
With just hours left before the close of the current scheme, Councillor Sam Love said: “We are delighted with the response so far and people are really keen to sign up and see what they might be able to save.
“Fuel bills can be very expensive and we would all like to try and reduce bills.
“The Big Switch makes it easy for people to find out about better deals and the more people who register, the more power we have to negotiate special rates with energy suppliers.
“Don’t miss this opportunity, sign up and let’s put money back in everyone’s pockets.”
Taking part is free, quick and simple with no obligation to switch. Registration closes at midnight on18 May.
To take part you need a recent energy bill or statement and register at www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/thebigswitch.
