Network Get Together: Effectively Managing Contractors

Tuesday 19th March was a beautiful and warm (12 degrees!) day in Glasgow and at the Calton Heritage & Learning Centre, two of our co-founders, Vicki and Ryan, were bringing together over 30 Network Members from across Scotland for the first free to attend Social Housing Safety Network Scotland ‘Network Get Together’

Ryan led our ‘Effectively Managing Contractors’ session supported by Vicki where we discussed the reasons for effectively managing contractors, how things can go wrong and what to do if they do – as well as the importance of checking the competence of contractors and managing their performance.

There were some great discussions and all of those who joined the session got fully involved, sharing their experiences of managing contractors. Many attendees found it useful to hear from their colleagues, understanding the different approaches and taking something away with them to their own organisation.

Those who left feedback rated the event either ‘Excellent’ or ‘Very good’ and 100% found attendance beneficial to them; in addition, the informal and comfortable way in which the session unfolded with interaction from colleagues certainly hit the right note!

We’ll be organising more free events for members to encourage networking and the sharing of good practice.

All of us at the Social Housing Safety Network Scotland would like to thank those who joined us.

Social Housing Safety Network Scotland

Our ‘Network Get Togethers’ are exclusively available to members of The Social Housing Safety Network Scotland. They’re free to attend and are just one of many benefits of Network membership.

The dedicated tenant and resident safety network for colleagues across Scotland was established a year ago by a small group of housing practitioners who have all worked in the social housing sector for many years; they bring with them practical, experience-based knowledge.

The Network was created to focus on tenant and resident safety in Scotland and to provide information, guidance and networking collaboration for local authority and housing association landlords; we encourage our members to tell us what they would like to see and the topics areas where they would like a focus.

Membership is open to social housing providers based in Scotland and you can see who most of our current members are, here: https://www.scotlandsafetynetwork.scot/our-members/
