Investors in People announces new chair

Ian Deninson

Investors in People (IIP) has announced the appointment of Ian Deninson, group HR and communications director at Amey Plc, as its new chair of the Board.

Ian Deninson has significant experience as a senior HR leader across a diverse range of sectors and has utilised the IIP framework at Dulux, Carlsberg and Amey. He has invaluable insight into the challenges facing organisations wanting to bring the best out of their people.

Outgoing chair Valerie Todd CBE said: “In my eight- year tenure as chair we saw an incredible period of change and evolution for the organisation, which strengthened IIP’s mission of creating more good workplaces. I welcome Ian’s appointment as my successor and wish him and the rest of the team every success for the future.”

IIP CEO Paul Devoy said: “I would like to thank Valerie for the fantastic leadership and support she provided in transforming Investors in People into a self-financing social enterprise.

“I am absolutely delighted that Ian will be joining our board as chair. He is a strong advocate of IIP and shares our belief that that investing in people is not only the right thing to do, it’s also the smart way to achieve sustainable success. Ian’s significant expertise and credibility in the HR field and his distinguished track record of business transformation will be major assets to the organisation.”

Ian Deninson said: “I am honoured to be joining IIP at such a pivotal moment in its evolution. This is a great organisation with a compelling purpose and ambition. As well as providing a framework and a standard, I am looking forward to working with the team to create an active community of like-minded organisations that want to share their insights and successes in developing and engaging their people. At a time when we are all conscious of the UK’s productivity and skills shortfall, as well as our lagging economic growth, this is work that needs to take place and what IIP contributes to this agenda has never been more relevant.”
