Kingdom celebrates delivery success at AGM
Kingdom Housing Association brought together board members and staff to celebrate the achievements of the last year at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Carnegie Conference and Events Centre.
The AGM was also an opportunity to reflect on milestones and accomplishments of individuals while working to provide great homes, services, people and communities.
The focus throughout the meeting was how every fact and figure has a real-life story behind it. Kingdom’s mission of providing more than a home sits at the heart of policies, investments, services, care provision and wraparound support. While the challenges within the sector remain, the AGM allowed staff and Board members to see the progress made and lives transformed.
Kingdom Housing Association chair, Linda Leslie, said: “We believe everyone deserves a safe, secure home and a fair chance to live their best life. That belief shapes everything we do. Our work tackles housing inequality and creates communities where people can thrive. We’re meeting needs that go far beyond bricks and mortar.
“The housing emergency is still very real, as are the economic pressures our customers and communities face. But our response continues to show real resilience.”
During the presentations, attendees heard about the £58 million investment for over 500 new-build homes, which include wheelchair accessible bungalows, cottage flats and family homes.
The regeneration project of New City House in Dunfermline also featured. Turning the former office building into 32 mid-market rent flats has allowed Kingdom to reshape an existing building into what local people need, offering more choice while keeping rents affordable.
Kingdom’s in-house Tenancy Support Services team were a real highlight of the year, helping customers gain £1.47m in financial support across 1100 new cases, and the AGM allowed the staff and board to hear about significant milestones throughout the year and to celebrate the long service achievements of employees.
Kingdom Works has delivered over 800 accredited training courses and helped 320 people into employment, while Mia Hastings of the Communications and Media team won Young Achiever in Housing at Scotland’s Housing Awards. Kingdom retained the Customer Service Excellence accreditation, as well as Investors in People Gold and Young People platinum.
The Community Initiatives Fund and Common Fund distributed £30,000 across communities, while staff raised thousands for local Fife charity Love Oliver.
Group chief executive Tom Barclay added: “This was the final AGM before Linda Leslie steps down as our chair and we were delighted to come together to honour her.
“We talk a lot about One Kingdom and how we work together for our customers while staying connected to each other and to what matters. Linda has shown us all what this looks like in practice and she’s made us all better at our jobs, asking the challenging questions and keeping focus exactly where it should be – on our customers.
“We will continue to carry on her incredible work and contributions as a force for good to deliver more than a home to the customers we work for.”
