Kingdom Group’s payroll team has won the coveted In-house Payroll Team of the Year award at the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals Annual Excellence Awards 2023.

The awards were established to recognise the important role that payroll and pensions play in the UK economy and are the longest-running, independent awards in the industry. They recognise individuals and organisations who demonstrate payroll excellence and their positive impact on the economy.

The In-house Payroll Team of the Year award recognises the payroll team that has compelled their employer to recognise the important role that the department can play in improving the overall company performance, and not just perceive the department as a cost centre.

Kingdom’s in-house payroll team of Jacqui Hoskisson, Kerri Gell, Rachel McGregor, Malgorzata Szczesiak and Kalvin Thain are responsible for a payroll of around 550 across the Kingdom Group and provide services to Kingdom Housing Association and Kingdom Support & Care.

Talking about the win, lead payroll officer Jacqui Hoskisson said: “I am thrilled that we have won the In-house Payroll Team of the Year Award. This is absolutely a team win and it wouldn’t be possible to do what we do without everyone playing their part. We appreciate how the cost of living crisis is impacting everyone at the moment and we take the responsibility of making sure Kingdom’s people are paid accurately and on time extremely seriously.”

Andrew Latto, HR director at the Kingdom Group, said: “I couldn’t be more proud of the payroll team at the Kingdom Group. To see their hard work and dedication recognised at a national level is incredible. Kingdom’s in-house payroll function was only created 5 years ago and I know they were up against strong competition from across the UK.

“This award also comes hot on the heels of our payroll team achieving the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals Payroll Assurance Scheme, becoming the only housing association in Scotland to receive this much-coveted accreditation in Scotland.”
