Link Group receives parliamentary recognition for ESG

Link Group, one of Scotland’s largest providers of affordable housing and support services, has been praised by an MSP for receiving international and national accreditation from two separate standards for its performance relating to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).

In a motion tabled to the Scottish Parliament, Michelle Thomson MSP for the Falkirk East Constituency wrote:

“That the Parliament congratulates the Link Group, which includes Link Housing Association, on receiving recognition for its performance and sustainability within the housing sector; understands that Link Group, which has properties and services across Scotland, including in the Falkirk East constituency, has been accredited a Certified Sustainable Housing Label (CSHL) for the third year in a row; notes that this accreditation was given to the Link Group by international consultancy firm, Ritterwald, for Link’s performance in the Environmental, Social, and Governance criteria (ESG); and congratulates the Link Group once again receiving a certified sustainable Housing label, and wishes the organisation all the best as it continues to progress best practice within the sector.”

The motion has been supported by the following MSPs: Karen Adam, Miles Briggs, Siobhian Brown, Alexander Burnett, Stephanie Callaghan, Natalie Don, Annabelle Ewing, Bill Kidd, Ruth Maguire, Stuart McMillan, Jenny Minto, Audrey Nicoll, Paul Sweeney, and David Torrence.

Link Group chief executive Jon Turner, said: “I’m delighted Link’s pioneering work on ESG is not only receiving international accreditation but parliamentary support from across the political divide as well. This political recognition is further proof of our ground-breaking work in this field.”

Link was awarded the CSHL in 2020, retaining it in 2021 and 2022. It assesses Link’s performance against a wide range of sustainability criteria. In 2020 and 2021, Link achieved Front-Runner status for Environmental and Social dimensions and Ambassador status for Governance.

In 2022, Link was accredited Front-Runner status for Social and Governance and received Ambassador status for Environmental.As part of the Pan-European accreditation process,

Link is assessed by international consultancy firm Ritterwald.

Link has recently adopted the Sustainability Reporting Standard for Social Housing (SRS) – a voluntary UK-based reporting framework for social housing, covering 48 criteria across ESG. Examples of the criteria include zero carbon targets, affordability, safety and resident voice.
