Lochalsh & Skye Housing Association returns to regulatory compliance

The Scottish Housing Regulator has announced that Lochalsh & Skye Housing Association (LSHA) meets all regulatory requirements following a period of engagement.
In September 2023, the Regulator assessed that Lochalsh & Skye did not meet regulatory requirements, including the standards of governance and financial management.
It engaged with Lochalsh & Skye in September 2022 to clarify the status of its new board members after failings were identified in its compliance with the regulatory standards of governance and financial management.
In June 2023, Lochalsh & Skye also notified the Regulator of a serious tenant and resident safety matter relating to the inaccurate reporting of full compliance with electrical safety requirements.
The Regulator also engaged with Lochalsh & Skye to seek assurance about its approach to independently validating its stock survey information to support its business plan.
However, in a new engagement plan for Lochalsh & Skye Housing Association, the Scottish Housing Regulator said the RSL has completed the work required to meet all regulatory requirements.
It said: “Lochalsh & Skye has worked openly and constructively with us to deliver the necessary improvements to achieve compliance. It has completed this work and provided us with assurance that it is now meeting regulatory requirements, including the standards.
“We therefore do not require any further assurance from Lochalsh & Skye other than the annual regulatory returns required from all RSLs.”
Fanchea Kelly, interim CEO at Lochalsh & Skye Housing Association, told Scottish Housing News: “LSHA has worked consistently with the Scottish Housing Regulator to ensure we meet all regulatory requirements and standards.
“After a period of turbulence and transition, we are pleased that our Engagement Plan confirms we are now fully compliant.”
