Partnership housing provider Lovell has high hopes for this year’s 10th annual Scottish Home Awards with no fewer than three of its developments featuring on the awards shortlist.

The Broxburn Primary School redevelopment has been shortlisted in the Development of the Year (age exclusive) category alongside another Lovell development, 29 amenity flats for social rent designed in partnership with Shettleston Housing Association to meet the demand of an older tenant group in Shettleston, Glasgow.

Meanwhile, up against five others in the Affordable Housing Development of the Year category will be Lovell’s 55 mixed tenure development at Mollins Gate in Moodiesburn, North Lanarkshire, constructed in partnership with Link Group.

The development was recently used by Rosetta Productions as a filming location for “Beats”, a new film from the makers of Ken Loach’s acclaimed movie “The Angel’s Share”, set at the height of the mid-1990s rave scene. The site was redeveloped to meet strong demand for brand-new quality affordable and open market homes in the area and comprises a mixture of one and two bedroom flats as well as two and three bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses.

The news follows hot on the heels of the 2017 Homes for Scotland Awards where Lovell’s redevelopment of the former Broxburn Primary School in partnership with West Lothian Council was named Affordable Housing Development of the Year.

The winners of this year’s Scottish Home Awards are due to be announced at a special ceremony in Glasgow on June 15.

Commenting on the shortlist, Sarah Freel, regional partnerships director at Lovell, said: “Following on from the high of winning at the Homes for Scotland awards, everyone at Lovell is absolutely delighted that three of our developments have been selected as finalists for this year’s Scottish Home Awards.

“Lovell continues to have a strong pipeline of work throughout central Scotland, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to building high-quality and affordable homes tailored to the local community’s specific needs. We’ve now got our fingers firmly crossed for the 15th June.”
