Manor Estates Housing Association kicked off celebrations for the organisation’s 20th anniversary with an afternoon tea for staff, management committee and tenants’ forum members at the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh.

Addressing the gathering, the Association’s chair, Willie Hardie, reflected on the hard work that led to the successful transfer of 956 houses from Scottish Homes in March 1995 and on the great progress Manor Estates has made since.

He paid tribute to the staff and committee members who had worked together to make the transfer happen and contributed so much to the success of the Association during the last 20 years.

Director Lynn McDonald said: “The past 20 years have seen wide ranging changes in legislation, regulation and the expectations of tenants but the Association has always responded positively to these challenges. We are now looking to the future with the second phase of our latest new build project at Greendykes due for completion in the summer and the third phase about to start on site. It’s been an exciting and demanding 20 years and we’re looking forward to a bright future for Manor Estates.”
