The completed development comprises 28 flats and 13 terrace houses, which have now been handed over to Hillhead Housing Association, the only community-based housing association in East Dunbartonshire.

The new homes represent a significant addition to Hillhead’s existing stock of 830 properties and mark the association’s first development project in five years, coinciding with their 21st anniversary milestone.

The project was part-funded by the Scottish Government via an Allia charitable bond, with C-urb acting as development agent throughout the construction phase.

Chair of Hillhead Housing committee, John Jamieson, said: “Hillhead Housing Association are delighted to take handover of these high quality properties. Providing warm, secure and affordable homes for the local community is our primary objective. The properties have been allocated to people who are homeless or in housing need and this means that they can now get on with living their lives and fulfilling their potential free from uncertainty over their housing situation.”

The Fauldhead development represents a vital contribution to tackling Scotland’s ongoing housing crisis, providing affordable social rented homes at a time of exceptional demand. With housing need across Scotland continuing to grow, developments like Fauldhead demonstrate the critical role that affordable housing providers play in delivering the homes that communities need.

McTaggart Construction added value to the site and supported the local community throughout the project by delivering a community benefit programme that created jobs, provided local sponsorship, and engaged with hundreds of school students from St Ninian’s and Kirkintilloch High Schools.
