Nearly £3,000 raised for local cancer charity by Shire
The management team and staff at Shire Housing Association decided to raise awareness of the work of charity partner Ayrshire Cancer Support’s centres, in a bid to signify the accessibility of the charity’s services.
The housing association was keen to support the charity to proceed with their operations in supporting people affected by cancer within Ayrshire.
On 9 May, Alan and Keir abseiled through the Port of Leith Distillery and raised £740, between them.
During May, 10 staff members and management known as The Shire Shufflers, participated in The Ayrshire 100 challenge.
They vowed to cover 100 kilometres, individually and collectively for the month of May.
The team managed to cover 1,168km, raising £978.65. The housing association said that it would match this and round it up to £1,000. Including gift aid, the amount raised from the walk was £2,221.15. Diane Balfour, organiser of the Shire Shufflers, said: “we are proud to have raised a grand total of £2,961.15 for ACS in May.”
