The business has been in operation since October last year and is now beginning to establish itself within the local community.

Providing estate management, close cleaning and void clearance services to PHA, the organisation aims to create long term, sustainable job opportunities for the area.

At the launch, PHA chair Elizabeth Kennedy spoke of the journey to establish PDC: “After a long consultation period, once the Board of PHA had discussed in great detail the pros and the cons of project we embraced the creation of the development Company. It’s fair to say that they have hit the Road running and over the last 4 months have established the organisation well and the benefits are already being realised.”

collaborative business opportunities.Proper and effective governance is a hallmark of PHA and the RSL set out to seek to create a first class Board to run its subsidiary. A five-member group of extremely talented and dedicated people who volunteered to take the lead in the creation of PDC has been established.

Lauren Rice, the newly appointed chair of PDC, said: “While our journey as the Board of a fledging social enterprise has been a short one so far, it has certainly been a fruitful one as I am delighted to see the organisation find its feet so quickly. We have went from an idea and a mission to provide employment opportunities to the people of Parkhead to a fully functioning business in such a short period of time.

“This is an achievement that cannot be underestimated. Like all new ventures we will no doubt have our issues along the way but I am sure the team here at PDC led by Charles and supported by everyone at Parkhead Housing Association will continue to succeed and provide an excellent service to the local community.”
